Description

In Apotekskogen there is a short cultural trail to walk where you can learn more about the cultural history of the forest.

People lived here during the Bronze Age around 1000 BC. Some burial cairns on the ridge should be from that time.

Ancient graves are often located on hills, so they were visible from far away and close to the gods. The ridge was attractive and more tombs came later. This was a central burial site. The people who lived around here came here to bury their dead.

Eventually, many graves had been built up here so that there was a whole burial ground. Parts of this remain and you can see around 30 different cairns and flat stones. The burial ground and the pebble ridge environment were considered so valuable that in 1968 an outer boundary was added to enlarge the ancient monument area.

There are information signs at several remains, which you can reach via the cultural trail.

**Follow the signs with the sun wheel on the trees to get to the ancient remains.
