Hacksta friluftsområde

Hacksta outdoor area is nestled between the buildings in central Åkersberga. The most eye-catching feature of the area is Hackstabacken. If you go up to the top, you are greeted by a nice view of the surroundings. Hacksta outdoor area is a green oasis with an easily accessible local nature where natural values, outdoor life and exercise sports coexist side by side.

**Nature

The terrain in Hacksta is hilly and varied. There are beautiful forest edges with large oaks, open grassy fields, sparse rocky pine forest, dense spruce forest and a lot of deciduous trees, including large aspens. Woodpeckers can often be heard drumming in the distance. Deer may not be so popular in the gardens and on the roads, but a deer family in a forest edge on a foggy morning at sunrise is a nice experience you have a good chance of getting here.

**Hacksta village

There used to be three farms in Hacksta, today some of the buildings remain. Hacksta used to belong, in different periods, to Smedby and Margretelund, which were the largest manors in the area. In the early 1900s, in addition to cattle breeding, there were also large greenhouses and vegetables were sold at Östermalmstorg in Stockholm.

**Exercise trail

Hackstaspåren is located right next to Österåker's sports center. It is perhaps the municipality's steepest track. If you want a real challenge, you can also go up the old ski slope. In Hacksta there are exercise tracks of 850 meters, 1.3 kilometers, 2.5 kilometers and 5 kilometers. All tracks except the 5-kilometer track have electric lighting. There is an obstacle course along the 2.5-kilometer track.

**Barbecue areas

Sausages and chocolate never taste better than around a campfire with good friends. A prepared barbecue area with a solid windbreak can be found below Hackstabacken. At the edge of the meadow, along the electric light trail about 500 m from Hackstastugan, a barbecue house is waiting. You bring your own firewood or charcoal here and of course you bring all the garbage home.

**Frisbee golf, orienteering and scouting

Hacksta outdoor area is used extensively by nearby schools and several associations. On the open grass areas, surrounded by a lot of beautiful oaks in the forest edges, Åkersberga Frisbee Club is housed with its 18-hole disc golf course. Training is conducted here and competitions are organized.

Orienteering is also practiced frequently in the area, both by schools and by the orienteering club OK Österåker, which has Hackstastugan as its clubhouse.

Åkersberga Sports Club, with its athletics and cross-country skiing sections, also often trains in the area.

Österåker's Scout Corps has its scout hut in the area and is often seen out in the terrain.

**Hiking and walking

The entire Hacksta area is criss-crossed by a variety of paths. It is never far from buildings, so the risk of getting lost is non-existent. Walking along the marked exercise trails is a good way to get to know the area. The trails are in a varied natural environment where there is much to see and discover, something that runners often miss. The trails are usually hard and suitable for both strollers and wheelchairs. Simple rest benches are placed at regular intervals. If you want to get a nice view of the surroundings, a hike up Hackstabacken can be worth the effort.
