Ekholmsnässjön

Ekholmsnässjön is a shallow, almost cut-off bay or flat, with only a narrow connection to Hustegafjärden in the north-east. However, the water exchange with the sea is high in relation to the inflow of fresh water, which means that the water is often almost as salty as in the bay outside.

The bottom is covered with abundant submerged plants such as sea nettles and seaweed, and seaweeds such as sea lavender and sea buckthorn. This, together with the fact that the flat warms up in early spring, that the beaches are unexploited and boating is extremely limited, makes Ekholmsnässjön a very valuable aquatic environment with high natural values and very good conditions for fish recruitment.

It is forbidden to drive a boat with a combustion engine in Ekholmsnässjön.

The water is often clear, which means that you can look at life under the water surface with a snorkel and cyclops. Birdlife is not as abundant in Ekholmsnässjön as in Gråviken, but grebes regularly nest in the bay and in the spring you can usually see gadwalls, gadwalls and teals.
