Description
Take a stroll along the glittering coastline, following soft paths under a canopy of linden trees. Bogesundslandet was founded as a nature reserve in 2015 and it makes up half of the total land area of Vaxholm municipality. Its size and close proximity to Stockholm make the area unique.
Here, you'll find hiking, riding and cycling trails to wander and explore, with trail markers and signposts that point the way to exciting places to visit (cycling off road is only allowed on designated, marked trails). In winter, the golf course is transformed into a cross-country skiing area. Remember to show consideration and share the trails; several are used by both hikers and cyclists, and dogs must be kept on a leash year-round on Bogesundslandet.
Old-growth oak, linden and pine trees are interspersed with fields and pastures. The Dammstakärret pond and the surrounding wetlands is a Natura 2000 area and home to a variety of animal and plant species. On Bogesundslandet, there are several designated swimming areas and a number of picnic areas with fire pits and shelters. At Bogesund Castle, there is a seasonally open castle café.
The nature reserve is owned and managed by the National Property Board (SFV). To share your feedback about the reserve, email SFV at skogsbruk@sfv.se
