Description
There are two pilgrimage trails in Upplands Väsby municipality - Birgittavandringen and Ingegerdsleden. Walking along the trails provides opportunities for recreation and experiences. They are suitable for pilgrims, families with children and those who want to take a longer walk.
Birgittavandringen is a shorter trail of nine kilometers in the eastern part of the municipality. The suitable starting point is Fresta church.
The Birgitta walk is named after St. Birgitta of Vadstena and the pilgrimage route links parts of St. Birgitta's life, past and present. The walk goes through beautiful natural areas along Frestaån, to Sandakärret and along the Iron Age graves across Sanda meadows.
The hiking trail has been created in a collaboration between Upplands Väsby municipality and Fresta church. In 2012 it was discovered that St. Bridget was probably born and raised on Sköldnora farm in Fresta parish in 1303.

Mycket trevlig och omväxlande runda. Mestadels på mindre vägar asfalt och ibland grus samt några partier på naturstig. Ganska bra skyltat och enkel svårighetsgrad. Vi gick motsols och efter knappt 1.5 tim stannade vi vid Spiltan och åt lunch, vilket vi var mkt nöjda med.Därifrån mindre än en timme till Fresta kyrka. Vandringen fick fem av fem i förhållande till förväntningarna.
