Örstigsnäs, nature reserve

The nature reserve includes a large part of Strandstuviken bay and the smaller Salstenskroken bay. The bays are very shallow and the bottoms have large coherent stands of vascular plants that create high natural values. The land environments directly adjacent to the marine areas are also included in the nature reserve.

Pitches will be allocated for caravans and motorhomes, while camping is free throughout the nature reserve.

The purpose of the nature reserve is to protect and preserve a varied area with many different habitats and its high biodiversity. The aim is also to preserve the area's marine environment with its relatively unaffected character and its high diversity of underwater plants.

To maintain a functioning marine ecosystem, Örstigsnäs should be seen as part of a network of protected areas. Along the coast of Södermanland there are several nature reserves with designated marine values that together contribute to a better marine environment.
