Description
The giant's soapbox is a typical dead ice pit and was formed when blocks of ice fell to the bottom of the ice river when the ice sheet melted around 10 000 years ago. The ice block was embedded by gravel and sand and when the ice melted, a so-called 'dead ice pit' formed. Unlike its water-filled neighbor Jätten's sink, Jätten's soapbox is dry and its bottom consists of mire/sand.
The forest area in the Forssjö recreation area used to be called Glisa or Glysamon and played a major role in popular fantasy. According to the legend, the giantess Glysa lived on Glysamon. Northwest of the area is also the grave of Glysa, a large ship from the early Iron Age. Legend has it that Glysa was killed by trolls and buried there.
