Gröna Slätt

The open area is called Gröna Slätt. Cattle have grazed here for a long time. In the early 1900s, Gröna Slätt became a bit of a party place for the people of Åkers. People came here, often by boat, for a party with dancing, food and drink. The place has also been a popular camping spot for young people who wanted a little adventure.

Be sure to close the gate you are about to enter. During the summer months, the whole open area is cow pasture. The cows won't bother you if you don't bother them. If you have a dog, you will need to take a bigger walk as the cows are both curious and want to protect their calves.

The house on Gröna Slätt is Forsanäs. It was once a pasture for the village of Forssa at the current sawmill. When Styckebruket bought the village and its land in 1781, Forsanäs became a croft under the mill. The last permanent residents were Helge and Doris Hedberg and their children, who left Forsanäs in 1955 to move into a detached house near Täby. To the left of the house, by the large tree, there are remains of the earth cellar and here were also the barn, woodshed and outhouse.

To the left of the road, down towards the lake, you can glimpse a rectangular stone wall. If you go closer, it is easy to discern the outer edge of a foundation. This is the foundation of what was once the hay barn, with the entrance and exit for the hay barn straight through the barn. In the 1950s, Brukspatron von Seth's cows roamed the fields for summer grazing. Later, the Powder Mill's horses were allowed here. The horses were part of a project to produce serum. Nowadays, it is again summer grazing for cows.
