Description

Welcome to Forssjö outdoor area.

Here you can discover exciting and clear traces of the Ice Age. The outdoor area is located on a pebble ridge and on the ridge there are ridge pits and boulders. The ridge pits have been given imaginative names. The largest ridge pit is filled with water and is called Jättens handfat (Skirtorpssjön). Two other ridge pits have been given the names Jättens tvålkopp and Glysas källare. They were probably formed when a block of ice was encapsulated in the deposit and then melted. The pits often have steep sides.

In the area you will also find the nature reserve Skirtorpssjön and is part of Katrineholmsåsen. The Sörmlandsleden trail passes through the reserve and takes you past the remarkable ridge pits.
