Tour proposal for the route Mariefred - Åkers styckebruk - Skottvångs gruva and back, about 35 km.

Asphalted road. Road 223 between Laxne and Läggesta can be busy. There is a pedestrian and bicycle path between Mariefred and Åkers styckebruk. If you choose to cycle via Krampan, there is a gravel road for a short distance. Between Skottvång and Mariefred, you can choose to cycle either via Krampan nature reserve with a bathing area at Krampan or via Laxne.

See and do:

At the mill area in Åkers Styckebruk: Mill museum and an English garden (with private manor) where it is allowed to walk in the park. Bathing place at Lake Visnaren.

At Skottvång's mine there is a mining museum and during the high season mine hosts who can tell you about the area. There are two hiking trails that start and end at Skottvång's mine, 4 and 9 kilometers respectively.

There is a natural swimming pool at Krampan nature reserve. The area with Åkers styckebruk, Skottvångs mine and surroundings is called Åkers Bergslag and has beautiful scenery with lakes and forests and here was early iron handling. Signs describing the history of the area can be found in a number of places in the area, for example in Åkers styckebruk and at Skottvång's mine - "History of iron". In the lakes in the area fishing, fishing license required, can be purchased in the vending machine in Åkers styckebruk.

Food and drink

Åkers styckebruk has a grocery store, restaurant and pizzeria. At Skottvång's mine there is a café/restaurant that operates all year round on Friday (evening), Saturday (concert evening) Sunday (buffet daytime), open daily during the summer season.
