Description

Nyvångshögen is a slag heap from the mining era and is almost 60 meters high. The heap stands as a symbol of the entire mining industry in northwestern Skåne, which for more than a hundred years was the largest industry in the area. Kilometre-long passages existed underground, where the coal was transported by small iron wagons to the shaft to be hoisted up, sorted and loaded onto railway wagons.

Visiting the area is free of charge and the gates can be found from the mining museum's parking lot.

Between the entrance and the road to the top there is a park-like environment with large green areas with space for play and picnics. New footpaths and benches have been built on the site. Signs have also been produced along the plank that has been built along the path up to the viewing park, describing the history of Nyvångshögen up to the present day. This has been done together with Nyvångs Gruvmuseum.

In addition, several trees and other vegetation have been removed to free up the area at the top of Nyvångshögen and at the lower part of the area.
