Description

Linnérundan is dedicated to Carl Linnaeus, who visited the wetlands around Kristianstad just over 250 years ago. Here you can still experience parts of the landscape that Linnaeus described.

Start at naturum Vattenriket. Cross the bridge to Tivolibadet and continue north to Kanalhuset, which is Vattenriket's first outdoor museum. Here you can see kingfishers in winter. During the summer you can look out over the marsh hawk's domains.

From Kanalhuset, the path runs along Kanalhusspången through dense thickets. The walk continues out onto the meadows. Stop and look out over the meadows from the Isternä platform. Continue to Lillö borgruin, which is the remains of a medieval castle. You can borrow the key from the visitor center. Right next door is Lillö Kungsgård where the stork nested in the 1940s. Continue along the road and turn left at the embankment.

Further ahead you pass a hill that hides the remains of Härlövsborg. In the Middle Ages there was a wooden castle here and in the 17th century a redoubt. The Härlövsborg tower provides a fine view of Isternäset. On the way there you pass some water-filled clay roofs. In the damp deciduous forest around the ponds, lesser spotted woodpeckers nest.

Audio guides

Along the route, nine sites are described in audio guides. Listen to the mp3 files from this page or scan QR codes with your smartphone along the walk. The locations are marked on the map. The map is available for free at naturum Vattenriket.

Water level and hiking

Along Linnérundan there is limited access when the water level of Helgeån is higher than 1.3 meters above sea level in Kristianstad. The water level can be read at the naturum, Kanalhuset and on Vattenriket's website.
