Description

This is the Orrnäs power station. The power station, together with the ancient remains along the lower course of the river Orrnäsån, is proof that even small watercourses were important for the development of industrialism.

In the 1910s, merchants in Ödeshög contacted the owner of Orrnäs farm to provide lighting in the streets of Ödeshög. The power station was commissioned in 1918 with Ödeshögs Elektriska AB as the owner. This company later became Motala Kraft AB and then Vattenfall AB, which closed the power station in 1970.

An action on all equipment, including the tube, was carried out in 1975. After that, the building itself was left to its fate and fell into disrepair. A total refurbishment was carried out in 2008 when the building was renovated, a new turbine and all peripheral equipment were purchased, including a new tube. The length of the tube is 330 meters with a drop of about 32 meters.
