Järnvägsparken

In the Railway Park in front of Motala Central, you can sit down by the beautiful fountain and admire the summer flower beds. A blood beech can be found in the northern part of the park and pyramidal oaks around the fountain. One of the oak trees is home to a burrow for insects. The hollow is meant to mimic an old hollow tree, of which there is a great shortage. The hollow contains a sawdust-like mixture, mulch that many beetles live in, for example.

The park also has three old railway wagons filled with flowers. The wagons come from Lemunda sandstone quarry.

The park was built at the beginning of the last century and replaced a square, Järnvägstorget. The railway station was inaugurated in 1873.

From the southern side of the station and a bit towards the center runs a new park path from the 2010s. Here there are raised perennial beds and shrub beds. The cycle path runs through the park towards the center.
