Description
In Dalmyra mine, ore has been mined from the Middle Ages in rounds until 1909. Nowadays it is an excursion destination.
The mine consists of three shafts that are now filled with water. The largest shaft is 25 x 7 meters. The greatest depth is 55 meters. The ore that was mined was transported by horse and cart to Kättingestation to be transported by rail to Arkösund. From Arkösund the ore was transported on by ship. Information signs on site tell you more.
The mine is beautifully situated on a headland in Lake Dalmyra. There is a shelter with a fireplace on site.
The Mauritsberg-Norrkrog stage of the Östgötaleden trail passes west of the Dalmyra mine.
