Description

A number of house foundations testify that a large settlement was located here. According to tradition, the village was destroyed in connection with the ravages of the Black Death around 1350. Even if this is true, the place seems to have been populated again, because in 1475 "ælgerum" is mentioned in Erik Eriksson's land book (and belongs to Fogelvik), which indicates that the place was inhabited again. In 1510 Älgerum is again mentioned as a deserted village. There is a house foundation with a fireplace on each side of the two long sides - something that is very unusual.
