Description

Trehörning's blast furnace is located in Mariedamm east of Askersund and is a reminder of the former iron processing in the area. Lerbäck has been known as a mining area since the 1320s when the first mines and smelters were established. The first blast furnace in Mariedamm was commissioned in 1636 and was blown down in 1889. The blast furnace was rebuilt as a pulpwood smelter in 1781. Trehörningen's blast furnace is Sweden's best preserved pulpwood smelter. Today's blast furnace has been renovated and was reopened in 1995.

Coffee shop in the blast furnace area. It is also possible to book guided tours at Trehörningens masugn.
