Stjernsunds slott

Beautifully situated on a headland in Alsen, just south of Askersund is Stjernsund Castle. The castle is considered one of Sweden's most beautiful with water on three sides and a rare well-preserved interior from the 1850s, when the royal family Bernadotte owned the castle. Interesting guided tours are given in the castle's parade floor, the servants' basement floor and the billiard wing.

The tour also takes you through the parts of the castle inhabited by Augusta Cassel, who ran the castle and the model farm until 1951. The castle and farm are also known for their cattle breeding and is the ancestral home of SRB - Swedish red-brown cattle, which is shown in exhibitions in the old dairy and carriage house.

Stjernsund Castle is surrounded by the castle park, which is open all year round. There is also the orangery with open summer exhibitions.

The castle shop is located in one of the wings of the castle and offers a delicious range of gift items.

On the northern shore of the castle park and with a view of Alsen and Askersund town is Stjernsund's castle café. Both lunches and coffee are served here.

The castle is only shown via guided tours that are conducted from mid-May to early September. Themed tours for children and guided tours of the castle park are also offered. See the castle website for current times. Book in advance via the Castle Shop.
