Facts
The name of the trail comes from the legend of the Gläntjätten. The Gläntjätten was a big and strong man, a great swimmer and had a huge appetite. You can read more about the Gläntjätten along the trail. The trail is an easy hiking experience along the beach, through forest and across the open landscape. Feel free to bring a packed lunch for a coffee break at one of the fireplaces, where there is firewood, benches and tables.
Hiking the marked trail takes one or two hours. You can walk the circular trail past the Gläntan building into the wild beach forest, to the ancient pine forest, across the open sandy heath and back, about 3.5 km. Another option is to follow the trail along the beach out to the Club's beautiful nature and back, about 3.2 km. You can also combine these trails, about 5.5 km.
The trail is marked in the forest with red rings on trees. Above open ground, the trail is marked with low posts with a red band. At numbered posts along the trail, you can learn more about how the forces of nature have created Sandängesstranden and how history has left traces behind that we can still see today. A sign on the post tells you briefly about what is worth seeing at that particular spot. If you scan the QR code on the pole, you will be taken to in-depth information and maps that tell you more and guide you along the nature walk.
Directions
Follow the sign towards Gläntan from Haraholmsvägen. At the end of the road there is a small parking lot that quickly becomes full on a nice day. There are 2 HCP parking lots and a ramp adapted for wheelchairs and strollers leads into the area. At the parking lot there is a service building with toilets and the possibility to throw garbage.
