Description
Twenty kilometers north of Arvidsjaur, an expansive forest landscape unfolds, featuring primeval forests, wetlands, lakes, and waterways. Guodelisjaure constitutes the northwestern part of this well-preserved area, which is almost roadless.
Here, Guodelisjaure is adjacent to the large Reivo reserve, covering nearly 100 square kilometers of nearly untouched nature. Together with Harrejaureliden, these reserves form a connected, fire-influenced primeval forest area of great value for the forest's plants, fungi, and animals.
Lake Guodelisjaure is surrounded by both forest and mire, with interconnected habitats extending from the lake to wetlands and waterways. In this unbroken natural landscape, sensitive species have the best conditions to thrive and spread. The Juokojegge mire is a wet string-flark mire with significant value for insects, amphibians, and birdlife.
The winding stream Skiljemyr, which flows through the area, is rich in fish and home to the endangered freshwater pearl mussel. Near Juokojegge, there are also archaeological remains and traces of former settlements, providing a fascinating glimpse into the area's history.
