Here are
some tips during the hunting period:
- Respect all signs indicating that hunting is in progress.
- Wear bright-colored clothing to make yourself visible.
- Stick to the designated trails.
- If you encounter a hunter, try to make contact to determine if it's safe to continue. This can be done with a brief whistle, a wave, or, of course, by speaking to each other if possible.
Description
The second stage of the trail starts at the overnight cabin in Nynäs. The first part of the stage goes through Humlenäs beautiful nature reserve. the meteorite lake Hummeln is passed over the old stone pier at Kejsnäset. This lake is one of Sweden's strangest, the southern parts were formed by a meteorite impact almost 470 million years ago, it is 60 meters deep in places and has fine water quality. The trail continues over the highway between Oskarshamn and Kristdala. Gravel roads and the path through Grytbäckskogen lead to the old agricultural landscape at Saxtorp with many cairns. The walk now goes through parts of Bråbygden, known for its rich and original cultural environment with wooden and stone fences, fencing, meadow barns, genuine farm environments and pollarded trees. A little further on is Bråhultesjön with a nice municipal bath and a relaxing rest area. The walk continues a bit along the road to Kristdala and then turns off and follows gravel roads through idyllic Småland forest past the village of Lilla Höckhult. Just before Smisserum, there is a huge stone wall, dubbed by hikers as the Småland "Chinese wall". Soon the trail runs parallel to Krokshultsleden. The trail crosses the road between Mörlunda and Kristdala and continues through the forest on gravel roads and paths. At Eckerhult, the Lönnebergaleden trail starts, which connects the Ostkustleden trail with the Sevedeleden trail. Eventually you come to Lönhult mill with its beautiful waterfall with remains from the mill era. The stage destination is Lönhultstugan near Lake Nejern. Here the trail reaches its westernmost point, on the border with Hultsfred municipality.
The cabin is only available for use by hikers on the East Coast Trail. For information about the cabin, see övernattningsstuga Lönhult.
