Description

**Dackeleden is named after the famous Nils Dacke, who led the rebellion against Gustav Vasa in the 1540s when farmers in Småland protested against the king's policies in the country. The trail passes Svartbäcksmåla and runs between Aboda Klint and Mosjön Dackeleden is hilly in the north and easy to walk in the south. In the west, the trail connects to the Glassworks Trail and together the two trails take you through the glass kingdom in Nybro municipality. The trail passes interesting areas of both modern and historical character.

Mosjön

On the border with Emmaboda municipality, Dackeleden starts at the desolate lake Mosjön. It is located in a varied natural area rich in lakes and deciduous forest, which extends past Lake Hultebräan.

Hultebräan

On the way to the bathing area on the southern shore of Lake Hultebräan is Klenemåla, which is one of the villages that was established in the late Middle Ages. Hultebräan was made a water reservoir for Kalmar municipality's water supply in 1970.

Björnasjö

The bathing area at Björnasjö is in a scenic location. The village is one of the older settlements in this area and stone axes and log boats have been found around the lake. In the mid-19th century, about 100 people lived in the village.

Bällsjö

West of Bällsjö is Bällsjösjön with a swimming area right next to the hiking trail.

Ramsjösjön

Settlement here probably began in the late 1400s and there is the municipality's largest stand of beech forest. The lake is now overgrown and is a nice resting place for migratory birds.

Toresbo

The village of Toresbo was originally called Toresboda, the sheds built by Tore. In the village there is a mill with a pond and a hay meadow that is a nature reserve with hazel and rich ground flora.

Deep holes

One of the finest stone arched bridges in the area is here at Djupa hål. The bridge was built in cold-wall technique in 1882 and an older road runs over the bridge.

Stora Ebbehult

Right next to the hiking trail is the village of Stora Ebbehult, one of Madesjö parish's most famous farms. This was the home of Sven Krååk, who in the early 1600s was given the farm as a gift by the king for his merits in the war against the Danes. The main building was built in the late 18th century.

Svartbäcksmåla leisure area

This is Nybro's hiking and exercise area with a ski slope, MTB trails, hiking trails, electric light trails, outdoor gym, warming hut, shower and sauna. The area is also of geoscientific interest. At the orienteering hut there are traces of the highest level of the Baltic Ice Lake, where you can see boulders, swell tracks and deltas. There is an ice wedge, and from the ridge tops there is a magnificent view of the S:t Sigfridsån river, whose vicinity is one of the most important features of the area's beautiful nature.

Iåsen

The trail runs along the geologically interesting Iåsen, which is a side ridge to Nybroåsen and extends from Ruskermåla-Persmåla to Flerohopp. The road was originally a bridle path and during the 18th and 19th centuries it was used extensively by the ironworks in Flerohopp when iron was shipped down to Kalmar. The ridge road from highway 25 to Flerohopp is virtually intact.

Flerohopp

An ironworks was established in Flerohopp in 1725. The community got its name from the fact that the owners of the ironworks took parts of their surnames, Fle etwood, Ro thlieb and Hopp enstedt. Remaining from the iron and glassworks era are several noteworthy buildings along the Ljungbyån river that flows through here. Below Flerohopp, the river is of national interest because of its natural values.

Sjömaden

The nationally interesting marsh consists of a large open marsh that has interesting plants such as bell heather, marsh lily, marsh helleborine and jungle ruline. There are also insects and birds worth seeing in this wilderness-like area.

Lake Stensjön

Northwest of Maden is Stensjön with a few small islands out in the lake. According to a legend, it was here at Stensjön that the great thief Per Don buried the silver treasure from Flerohopps bruksherrgård in the early 1800s. Many have searched for the treasure but never found it... By the lake there are lovely wooded areas and a beautiful 17th-century loft.

Uvafors

An ironworks was started here in the 1760s but the business did not last long. There has been an electric power station on the site since 1921. East of Uvafors is Stora Hindsjön and at Hindviken there is a swimming area right next to the trail.

Little Hindsjön

South of Lilla Hindsjön you pass Rammsjön which is a nice bird lake. Then you enter a valuable and varied deciduous forest area with many noble deciduous trees along Hindabäcken.

There is a bathing area at Lilla Hindsjön right next to the trail, and from Fläskaberga you can see the whole area.

Fagrasjö

The lake is a nutrient-poor wilderness lake with a bathing place next to the trail.

Paradisskogen

In the area there is deciduous forest with mainly oak and aspen with hazel and ivy. Most of Paradiset is covered by rocky vegetation with interspersed wetlands.

Lake Bjärssjön

Here the trail passes through a straight-stemmed oak forest that is a remnant of an older stand. The forest is affected by greenstone and has some rare plants and is beautifully situated along the lake. It is part of the Allgunnen area, which is of national interest from a nature point of view.

Branthult

In the village there is a wolf pit where wolves were caught until the mid-19th century. There is also an old spring and just west of the trail is Branthult's old school. The deciduous forest with especially oak is dominant in the relatively hilly landscape. There are also remnants of older cultural landscapes (pollarded ash trees, small fields and forest pastures).

Badebodaån

Just before you reach the river, there is a picnic area with a fireplace and miles of views of the lakes Kvillen, Kleven and Bjärssjön. At Kleven there is a bathing place.

Aboda Klint

The Aboda area is a nature reserve and here you will find one of Småland's most beautiful views.

The above mentioned places are marked on a map in the pdf you can download here.
