Trail description
Three hundred-year-old oaks line Princess Estelle's and Princess Leonore's beautiful walking trails in the castle forest and Borga hage. The paths are signposted from Borgholm Castle parking lot and from Borgholm sports ground. The walk goes through oak forest with groves and here you come across something as unusual as an elm forest. Of course, there is also the island's history and cultural heritage to discover along the paths that take you past the castle ruins, Solliden Castle and Kaffetorpet. It is possible to make a detour from the castle forest and walk along the sea.
Along the trail there is a bomb crater, a lime kiln and a memorial to Queen Victoria, as well as signs with information for those who are curious.
Keep in mind!
If you start at Borgholm Castle ruins, the hike starts with a steep and long staircase. Outside Kaffetorpet you are met by a hill. If you want to take a shorter and easier walk and avoid the steeper parts of the hike, you can start at Borgholm sports ground. Choose the path inside Borga hage, it is about 1.5 kilometers long. The reserve's paths and roads are for everyone. Here you can hike, run and cycle.
