Description

Store Mosse is the largest bog area in southern Sweden. The term 'marshland' is no exaggeration - these are impressive expanses, reminiscent of the mountains.

Store Mosse National Park is located in Småland and is Sweden's largest largely untouched area of raised bog south of Lapland. There are a couple of nature reserves immediately adjacent to the national park, Brokullen and Långö Mosse, which means that the protected area is close to 8,000 hectares. Road 151 between Värnamo and Gnosjö in Jönköping County cuts right through the national park. Most of Store Mosse is raised bog, but there are also forests, mainly pine moss forest and swamp forest, as well as marshes. Some parts also have elements of coarse spruce forest.
