Description

Valdshult Loop is a scenic gravel loop ridden on a varied mix of gravel roads and quiet paved sections, set in a calm and nature-rich environment.

The route takes you through deep Småland forests and open countryside, with clear historical highlights along the way. In the picturesque village of Öreryd, you’ll experience classic Småland charm and a fascinating story from World War II. A Norwegian refugee camp was once located here, and the area still holds traces of the secret training of Norwegian soldiers.

From the main route, you can take short detours to Lidernas Mill and the log-driving flume in the Valån river, where signs of the region’s working history in forest and water are still visible. Toward the end of the loop, you also pass Nissafors ironworks, where rushing waterfalls and industrial remains offer another glimpse into the area’s rich heritage.

Traffic is generally very low, with one exception in Öreryd, where the route crosses National Road 26 and extra caution is required.
