Rogen Nature Reserve is the corner of southwestern Härjedalen. Drive south from Tännäs about two miles to Käringsjövallen. There is parking and information. The reserve can also be reached by trails from Tänndalen in the north, Norway in the west and Dalarna in the south.
Regulations
In addition to other laws and regulations, it is prohibited to enter the nature reserve:
- damage land or geological objects
- damage growing or dead standing or fallen trees, shrubs and dig up plants or remove moss and lichen
- disturb wildlife, for example by photography or other means
- light fires within the area specifically indicated on the map around the lakes Bredåsjön, Rogen, Tandsjön, Abborrvikarna and Vingarna, among others. Exceptions apply to specially prepared and designated places. When lighting fires in other parts of the reserve, only loose branches on the ground or own fuel brought to the reserve may be used.
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.
- land with an aircraft on land, water or ice. Exemption without special reasons may be granted in only two places; at Rogenstugan and at the rest cabin at the outlet of Bredåsjön.
- drive a motorboat or other motorized vessel
- drive a canoe, boat or other vessel in the lakes and waterways of Myskelsjön-Övre Mysklans and the lakes Övre and Nedre Muggsjön and Urgtjärnarna
- use motorized drills for winter fishing
- introduce live fish as bait when fishing or otherwise
- deliberately stay closer than 100 meters to musk oxen
- use or set up caravans, mobile huts, sheds or similar within the boundaries of the reserve other than in a specially designated place. The prohibition also applies to temporary parking on ice. However, the prohibition does not apply to portable lightweight tents that are used for temporary overnight stays in connection with a stay within the reserve. Snowmobile sledges with a small superstructure may be carried and used in connection with temporary overnight stays within the reserve. The sledges must not be left behind.
- during the period April 20 - May 31 bring dogs. Exceptions apply to winter cleared trails and licensed fishing waters and the nearest suitable route to the waters.
