Description

Hembygdsgården is one of the oldest buildings in Ljungdalen. It probably dates from the early 1700s and is a so-called couple's cottage that has been a year-round residence for several generations of mountain farmers until 1935. Between 1919 and 1930, a shop was run in the western room. After that the house became a storage room until May 1954. Then the building was moved from Östgården to its present location and transferred from private use to the Hembygdsföreningen, whose purpose is to preserve and utilize old buildings and objects. The homestead is commonly called Gammelgården. There are more exciting buildings around Gammelgården.

These are the stables, the blacksmith's forge, the mowing shed (used as a resting hut during the mowing season), the summer barn and a hut that was built in the traditional way in 1992. The farm also has wooden carvings of mountain farm animals for children to play with.

It is the Hembygdsföreningen in Ljungdalen that owns and manages Gammelgården and the collections of everyday objects. Admission to the Gammelgården museum is free.
