Description
This is an area where the soil contains a lot of lime. Coniferous forests growing on soils with a lot of lime are rare in a larger perspective. The lime provides conditions for many species to thrive. These are often species that only thrive on calcareous soils. Among the better-known plants is the guckuskon, which is a large orchid. Mushrooms with strange names such as guckus cocci, bitter wax moth and spicebush occur in the area. A quarter of the reserve's surface is made up of a marsh with a lot of limestone in it. Several plants that only thrive in calcareous environments thrive there, such as axagus and wiregrass.

Follow road E14 west from Östersund. Turn right towards Halåsen after about 7 kilometers. Follow the new road for about 5 kilometers and then turn right onto a forest road. After about 2 kilometers you will reach the nature reserve on the left side of the road.

Lätt att ta sig dit. Finns ingen stig eller led genom området så man får ta sig in lite hur man vill. Lämpar sig bäst för lite planlöst strövande. Inga givna mål med undantag för myren längst in möjligen. Många tecken på älgbrunst under jaktuppehållet -22. Skogen är väldigt tät och svamprik men har ingen jättegammal prägel vad mina lekmannagluggar kunde se. Ändock värt ett besök!
