Description

Laholm City Park

The park has 2 different playgrounds. There is also Vilse's path with 8 stations where you learn what to do if you get lost.

One of Sweden's most beautiful city parks

In 1996, the last train passed through central Laholm and early on, the decision was made to build a park on the old embankment. In 2001, the embankment was excavated and in 2007 the park began to take shape in earnest. Early on, landscape designer Peter Gaunitz was brought in and given a free hand to create a completely new park from scratch. Sadly, Peter did not live to see the completion of the park, as he passed away shortly before.

Peter Gaunitz's garden motto was "Wild is beautiful" and Laholm City Park is no exception. There is something here for everyone, young and old, the generally curious or the garden enthusiast. After the ground-breaking ceremony in 2007, one stage per year was taken, and it took about 5 years to get it to what it is today. The park is divided into different sections, such as Wild Forest, Woodland and Spring Hill. All unique with different themes of plants and plantings. In addition, around the park you will find various wooden sculptures made by the Stockholm artist Anders Ölund.

Park of the year

In the summer of 2013, Stefan Persson, park manager in Laholm, entered Laholm City Park in the newly established Park Inspira competition. The park was named Sweden's most beautiful new park and could boast of being so until 2015. Interest in the park has increased as a result and still attracts many tourists today. If you are interested, you can join one of the open guided tours organized during the summer and autumn. Larger groups can book individual tours.
