Klintamossen, Naturreservat
- Nature reserve
- County: Hallands län
Actions
Description
Klintamossen is a large mire and forest area dominated by coniferous forests and open bogs. In the north and in the middle of the reserve there are beech forests, a type of forest that used to be much more common in the areas around Klintamossen. There are no marked trails in the reserve, but as a visitor it is still possible to take a quiet and relaxing walk.
In the north, there is a well-preserved agricultural landscape with crofting remains, stone fences, fruit trees and pastures with long continuity. Some of the deciduous swamp forest also bears traces of grazing and will continue to be included in the grazing operation. Two small marsh ponds contribute to the tranquil setting. Some spruce plantations still remain in the reserve, but the spruce is being phased out and replaced mainly by broadleaf forest.
Rich bird life
The bird life in the reserve is rich and offers, among other things, a habitat for grouse, which need open marshland for their famous grouse games. The management of the reserve aims to open up the overgrown bogs for the benefit of birdlife. Thanks to the diversity of the area, you can find both coniferous forest species such as the tufted titmouse, pine tit and black tit and deciduous forest species such as the green warbler, stone curlew, nuthatch and wood pigeon. The large and often noisy woodpecker, the stonechat, can be seen and heard in the area, even during the winter months.
Activity in the reserve
The reserve has no marked trails, but offers privacy and tranquillity for the visitor. In the reserve you can pick blueberries, lingonberries, cranberries and edible mushrooms. At Flathultet in the northern part, visitors can experience an old-fashioned agricultural landscape, why not in May when the apple blossoms, the beech leaves are delicate and the birds sing most persistently?
Leash the dog
Dogs are welcome, but should be kept on a lead. Dogs should not be taken into the grazing paddocks as this can make the grazing animals feel unsafe and thus become a danger to you and your dog.
