Description

At Älvsåker, the Hallandsleden trail begins or ends and meets the Bohusleden trail from the north. The trail runs partly on top of the Gothenburg moraine, an ice edge formation that was formed about 12,000 years ago. North of Hjälm you pass the lakes Lilla Iglakärr and Stora Iglakärr before you reach Fjärås bräcka and the nature center.

South of Hjälm you pass Stensjön, where you will find the campsite along the stage. There is a shelter with a fireplace and there is a dry toilet and wood storage adjacent but no drinking water. To the south, the trail becomes moderately hilly and mainly covered with coniferous forest. Up on the hill there are several ancient remains, where the Brattabjär burial ground with ancient graves is impressive.

The trail takes you further up and down through mixed forest and on winding nature trails and forest roads, until you reach Fjärås. After Fjärås church, you enter the Fjärås bräcka nature reserve. Here you have a lot to discover and learn more from the information boards that are placed. From here you have a fantastic view of Halland's largest lake Lygnern, you see both the lake and the sea at the same time. If you continue on the next stage towards Äskhult's village, you will pass Li's burial ground, which is from the Late Iron Age / Viking Age and is Halland's largest from this time period.
