Description

The bird protection area, which is divided into three parts, extends from the southern side of Hammarudd south along the coast to Snoderviken, about 1 km N Kvarnåkershamn. In the north, the bird protection area borders the Ekstakusten nature reserve.

The coastal section is largely occupied by grazed beach meadows with a very rich bird life. Greylag goose, gadwall, dunlin, pintail, shoveler, ruff, dunlin, dunlin and little tern nest here.

During the spring, large flocks of barnacle geese rest on the meadows, and in the fall a variety of waders.

In order not to disturb the nesting birds, access is prohibited from March 15 to June 30.

From the road inside the northern part of the area (Hammarudd-Langstiteviken), from the small fishing village Klase (about 1 km N Borum) and from the bird tower that stands about 500 m SE of Klase, however, you can see most of what the area has to offer in terms of birds even during this time.
