Actions
Description
The Siglajvs nature reserve in Rute parish is crossed by several exciting trails. The forest is also otherwise easy to walk and offers great nature experiences.
Siglavs is dominated by older coniferous forest. In the west, the ground consists of swollen gravel that forms ridges that extend in a north-south direction. Here the forest is very tall. To the east, the forest is leaner, gnarled and low-growing and turns into alvar forest, where gravel alvar is the most common soil type. Here you can meet the unusual beetles relict beetle and blacksmith beetle. Several pairs of nightjar nest in this part. In the western part of the area, the spruces are strikingly late-grown, with hanging branches, dense branch turns and rich occurrences of old spruce lichen and cat's foot lichen.
In the northeastern part of the reserve, there are some elongated rich marshes with very rich occurrences of the small orchid honeyflower.
