Description

Galgberget is a popular hiking area just north of Visby. The nature reserve gets its name from the medieval execution site whose tall stone pillars still remain, clearly visible from land and sea, on the barren cliff edge. Here you will find striking views of the sea, dramatic cliffs, lime kiln ruins, a labyrinth and beautiful, varied nature. On the high limestone plateau of Galgberget, barren rocky terrain with varying openness and coniferous forest dominate. Below the cliff edge, lush deciduous forest dominates with a rich birdlife.
