Description

The bird protection area covers the greater part of the Faludden peninsula in south-east Gotland.

The vast open meadows on Faludden are among the richest in birds on Gotland. Among other things, large numbers of waders such as redshank, oystercatcher, ruff, curlew, red-breasted godwit, avocet and dunlin breed here.

Thousands of barnacle geese rest on the headland, especially in spring - from the beginning of April to mid-May - but also in the fall - mainly in October - and the bird protection area has been created mainly to prevent the grazing geese from being disturbed and to reduce the damage to the surrounding farmland.
