Description
The mythical Tjuvberget offers a fantastic view where it rises 210 meters above sea level. From the winding path by the parking lot you can get to the top of the mountain. It's a relatively demanding hike, but luckily it's worth it. The Hälsingleden trail runs through the southern part of the area. You can also hike on smaller trails through several other parts of the nature reserve. At the rest area in the southern part of Hälsingeleden there is a fireplace and access to firewood.
Tjuvberget, which covers 91 hectares, is very varied, with cliffs, rocky areas, 300-year-old pines with gnarled branches, fertile spruce forest and also deciduous trees such as birch, willow and large aspens. The forest closest to the lake is largely rocky, blocky and leafy with a lot of gray alder and aspen.
Unusual plants
Tjuvberget has demanding and unusual plants with beautiful-sounding names such as woodruff, magic grape, spring barley, goat's beard and musk marigold.
There are a few lime trees near the cliff wall. Rose thistle, cream thistle and the very rare leather thistle are some other examples of the species richness in the area.
Tales of thieves
There are several ancient remains in the reserve, including a willow stone used since the 18th century. According to legend, this is a place where thieves used to rob weary hikers.
There is also a cave formed by cracks in the rock. It is said to have been used by robbers at the same time.

Regulations
Special rules apply in the nature reserve. It is not allowed to:
- drive motorized vehicles other than on roads intended for motorized traffic
- take firewood or make a fire. Exceptions apply to specially organized fireplaces at windbreaks where deployed or own firewood is to be used
- breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead standing or fallen trees and bushes
- damage, pick or collect plants, animals (including insects), fungi and lichens. However, picking berries, edible mushrooms and flowers for personal use is allowed, except for protected and red-listed species
- climbing nest trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow, or otherwise deliberately harming or disturbing wildlife
- bringing an off-leash dog or other unleashed pet
- putting up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or making an inscription
- damaging any fixed object or surface formation, such as moving or removing rocks
- engage in rock climbing
- use the area for organized competitions or military exercises, except for orienteering competitions after consultation with the County Administrative Board.
