Description

A bit upstream along Hässjaån from Hässjaåpaviljongen you will find Pallarsskäkten. If you look north across the fields and down towards Hässjaån, you can see the shaft from this place.

Pallarsskäkten was probably built in the early 1800s. The shaft, which is of the larger type, is equipped with an underfall wheel, mallet and four swarms. Note that the shaft is also equipped with a wheelhouse - this is to be able to use it during the winter months. There is also a pair of stones with stone tubs for grinding grain. On the opposite side, there was an older type of mill and threshing plant, which was later demolished.

The shaft consists of two buildings where the right building is the "valley station" for the cable car that went up to the Per-Anders farm to drive the threshing mill. Remains, including the poles, from the cable car were left as late as the 1960s. The building was used for winter storage of the cable car and hoists. There was also a cable car on the other side of the river that went up to the Ol-Svens farm to operate the carpentry workshop. The cable car to Ol-Svens probably disappeared in the 1930s.

Caption to the picture above:

A photo from 1922 showing much that is not there today. In the background, downstream, you can see the mill building, which is the mill that was built in 1878 and which is still here today. In the middle of the picture, in the middle of the watercourse, is the Pallars shaft, which is still there today.

To the left across the field is the cable car leading to Ol-Svens where power was used for carpentry and to the right is the cable car leading to Per-Anders where power was used for threshing._

Inside the Hässjaåpaviljongen you will find a sign showing these pictures and describing the ropeway** _
