Description

**Kayak tour with islands, rocky outcrops and mountain views.

Sandarne boat harbor is a nice starting point for your kayak trip. At the marina there is a kayak dock and good parking facilities. In the community itself, Sandarne you do your shopping at the ICA store.

When the kayak is loaded, you take the first paddles in a northeasterly direction and are immediately out on the island-rich Prästholmsredden. Some islands are inhabited, and others are suitable for beachcombing and swimming.

On the other side of the strait you pass Segelvik's large boat harbor, and now you paddle into Svartsundsrännan, which separates the Skatön nature reserve from the mainland. Here you will soon find a nice sandy beach with swimming and barbecue facilities. After a coffee and a swim, take a walk on the path that leads to the top of Skatberget, from where you can look out over large parts of the Söderhamn archipelago. After a break, rest and the "mountain climb" (32 m above sea level), you continue your kayak tour, following the north side of Skat Island with its wide shingle fields. At the far end of the island, Skatrevet takes over. It forms the outermost tip of the islet and from here you can see a beautiful and unbroken horizon line. Skatrevet is really worth stopping at. It is easy to dock your kayak in the bay south of the reef.

Now head south, aim for the Otterhällan lighthouse and soon land at Branthäll, a popular destination for boaters. Cliffs and swimming, or sandy beach and swimming. You just have to choose.

If you still have something left in your thermos, make a last stop at Skuggskär's coarse-grained beach. Yes, you might even choose to camp on the southwest side of the island? Then paddle back to Sandarne boat harbor.

This is a suitable one-day trip. You'll be paddling in the open sea, but as there are many islands, there are also many opportunities for shelter and calm waters. But you do have to be a bit careful, especially when you go from Skatrevet south. If the sea gets too rough for your taste and ability, you'll find your way along Utvik's beach and make your way into Söderhamnsfjärden, where you'll soon feel you can make your way over to the south shore, where you started.
