Väckarbodarna

Väckarbodarna passes through Fäbodledsområde 3. The name Väckarbodarna probably comes from the Väckar family from Svedjan.

In the 1633 list of mountain farms, the place is called Österbäständan and the farmers were Hans Knutsson in Mjälgen, old and young Mats Matsson in Svedjan and Per Joensson in "Lur".

Karl-Erik Forsslund tells us about a barn in Väckarbodarna with the year 1641 carved into it.

In the 1811-1817 census, the farmstead is called "Wästtjärnbodarna". It then had 19 co-owners. Of these, nine came from Svedjan, six from Mjälgen, three from Näset and one from Djur.

Even in the summer of 1933, 15 households had their animals on summer grazing at Väckarbodarna.

Two years later, in 1935, there were twelve litters here, which for 16 households took care of 50-60 cows and young animals.

Maria Olsson-Grape, born in 1919, was a herdsman from 1935 to 1951, alternating with her aunt Jönses Karin Ersson. Karin and Maria Vestlund were Väckarbodarna's last herdsmen. The year was 1954, and three households had nine cows on summer grazing.

In a cultural-historical environmental analysis, Väckarbodarna has been classified as an area of great cultural-historical and environmental value.
