Description

These islands are located in Lake Runn and are forested with both spruce and pine. There are coniferous forests with trees over 100 years old. The area is popular for outdoor activities in both summer and winter. The islands are located just north of the strait into Lake Ösjön, between Kyna and Hinsnoret.

Tyskö has a 120-year-old spruce-dominated forest on the northern and central parts of the island. A 130-year-old pine forest grows along the eastern shore and there are two younger spruce stands on the western shore. Both Nästö and Prästö are dominated by 100-year-old pine forests. In the middle of Nästö there is a 100-year-old pure spruce stand.

The main use of the islands today is outdoor recreation, which reaches the islands by boat in summer. Ice skating in winter makes the islands accessible to more people. In recent years, this interest has increased significantly, partly as a result of plowed tracks that run right next to the islands. Read more about this on Runn-is. Rest areas have been set up on Tyskö and Prästö for this purpose. Some use is also made by recreational fishermen. In summer, the islands are only accessible by boat.
