Description
The trail stretches along the ridge above Rättvik's slalom slope and passes the viewpoints at Hedsåsberget, Lerdalsberget and Hökolsberget. There are magnificent views of, among other things, Siljan, Ljugaren, Rättvik's community and several Rättvik villages!
The hiking trail also passes the nature reserve Dalen (Vitsippsdalen) with wonderful flora and rich bird life!
Hedsåsberget and Lerdalsberget: After about 2 km of hiking upwards along roads and paths in the forest, you reach Hedsåsberget. From the top, which is just north of the trail, you can look far north over Rättvik municipality. From right to left you can see Lake Ljugaren, the Gärdsjö villages, Boda church village with the white church on the hill, Östbjörka, Backa and Västberg.
Follow the path down the mountain to a forest road. Where the forest road ends in a turnaround, turn right onto a beautiful forest path that takes you to the top of Lerdalsberget. Here, from the top of the slalom slope, you have a magnificent view of Siljan and the blue mountains. You can see Rättvik and Vikarbyn from above and discern the shape of the Siljan Ring, the annular depression formed when a meteorite struck about 377 million years ago.
Hökolsberget and Dalen: About 700 meters south of Lerdalsberget, a small path takes you into an old spruce forest that is about 200 years old. In the dark forest there are trees of all ages and fallen tree trunks remain in the moss and decay. At the top of Hökolsberget there is an open place suitable for a coffee break. The tour then goes down the mountain through the old forest. Eventually you are surrounded by deciduous forest and arrive at a stream valley called Dalen. The village of Lerdal takes its name from the place. The former open land around the stream valley has been overgrown with deciduous forest. In spring, the ground is covered with carpets of wood anemones and the birdsong is intense. The valley is a popular urban nature area and is used by schools, outdoor organizations and others. Then walk along the village roads back to the starting point.
You can find out more about Rättvik's geology and nature at the Nature Museum in Rättvik's cultural center.

vacker och tydligt markerad led. Vid bänken på Hedsåsberget går en liten avstickare stig ner i skogen åt vänster. Om man går ner där så kommer man till ytterligare en bänk med mycket bättre utsikt.
