Tansvägga naturreservat

The view from Tansvägga is wonderful! You can see for miles to the east and south where Ludvika municipality meets the cliff. There are also hiking trails on that side. The reserve is managed by Gagnef municipality.

There is a shelter and a fire pit. Remember to be careful when you are up on the cliff. Respect the climbers by not throwing rocks, logs or rubbish down the cliff.

The rock wall is excellent for climbing, but remember to follow the restrictions on climbing. The nature is very varied, as moist small ravines in several places cross lean rocky areas.

The forest on top of the mountain consists mainly of lean rocky pine forest, with a lot of older pines. Below the precipice, a fertile mixed forest grows with a large number of different deciduous trees, especially aspen.

The characteristic hack marks of the three-toed woodpecker can be seen on tree trunks. Large, oblong holes have been chiseled out by the sparrowhawk. The area has long been a known lynx den. Remains of coal burning can be found in the area, with both cow ruins and the clear remains of charcoal bottoms from the burning of lemmings.
