Sommarvägen och Hällvägen

Sommarvägen is a hiking trail that the village of Klockarnäs used to use to get to its Gammelfäbon, Nyssjön, Rotbo, Gryfs and Alderbacka mountain farms. From Alderbacka fäbod you can take the "Hällvägen" up to Falu municipality's highest point Spjärshälla (506 meters above sea level), with miles of views and a rest area with a viewing tower and barbecue facilities. Hällvägen was a so-called lute road used by the herdsmen when they went out to the forest with the animals on pasture. From Spjärshälla you can connect to Pilgrimsleden and further down to Kurbergets fäbod. There is a trail you can take back to Alderbacka and Sommarvägen and further back to Klockarnäs.

Sommarvägen runs through a varied nature with forests, open clearings, fine views and marshlands. There are two nature reserves directly adjacent to the trail, Kurbergsmyrarna and Spjärshällen. The trail runs mostly on nice paths without a lot of stones and roots, but also shorter stretches on forest roads. Some wet parts mean that sturdy and water-resistant hiking shoes are recommended. The trail is marked with blue paint on trees and poles.

There are several attractions along the trail. You pass a "lifting stone", a number of forest huts and coal bunkers, a wild stone and sacrificial castle and a trapping pit system. As the trail touches other paths and even car roads, you can divide the hike into stages. Starting at Spjärshällen makes the trail easier to walk as much of the hike is downhill to Klockarnäs.
