Siljansleden, Siljansfors till Fulåberg

The stage from Siljansfors to Fulåberg passes Åmbergs fäbodar.

Fulåberg:

Fulåbergs fäbodar is located at just over 400 m a.s.l. Fulåberg was one of the longest active farms in Mora parish. In the 1920s, 18 of the farms were active and there were about 10 cows and sheep. In Fulåberg, people have historically completed spring farming before they started at home in the village. In Siljans Socknarna, spring farming has traditionally started in the pastures before the land at home in the village was taken care of.

Fulåberg's oldest house was originally built on Kufva Farm in Norra Vika. The house was transported to Fulåberg in 1915. The year 1735 is carved on one of the walls. According to local name researcher Bror Lindén, the name Fulåberg may have come about because the shepherds have had their young horses, fålar, grazing around the shepherd's hut since ancient times. According to oral tradition, some of the buildings in Fulåberg's shepherd's huts were located higher up on the mountain, but the buildings were destroyed by fire.
