Djurmo klack Naturreservat

The reserve consists of a hillside with precipices and the forest immediately below the mountain. It is a mixed forest with a lot of hanging lichens and coarse dead wood, which favors wood fungi and lichens.

At the top there are two burial cairns, the largest of which is more than ten meters in diameter. In ancient times, the mountain was an important spring hut. The mountainside is used as a nesting site for various bird species, such as peregrine falcons.

A hut with tables and benches is available to visitors. The gravel road up to the parking lot is prepared and there are clear instructions for parking. Photo view with mountains and villages named is available.

The cliff at Djurmo Klack is a southern mountain with a flora below the cliff that is heat-demanding. A south-facing mountain is a mountain that has a side facing south, east or west.

On top of the cliff there is a rocky pine forest in the southwestern part. The area bears traces of three-toed woodpeckers and ravens nest in the area, which is also favorable for the mountain owl.

Djurmo Klack is named after the rocky cliff above the village of Djurmo. There are two Bronze Age cairns on top of the cliff. The cliff is traditionally regarded as a place where spring candles were lit.

The mobile outdoor life uses the area extensively. In particular, Djurmo Klack is used as a vantage point and there is also a windbreak and a fire pit. Djurmo Klack is easily accessible from the forest road that goes up the mountain. From the forest road, a path leads the last bit up the mountain to the windbreak. Please note that climbing on the cliff is prohibited at certain times.
