Utsiktsplats Kråkberget

From the top of Kråkberget you can see the whole of Nyköping, Stadsfjärden and all the way to the neighboring town of Oxelösund in clear weather. You are 36 meters above sea level in a place that in 1849-1967 was Nyköping's water reservoir.

The name Kråkberget is thought to be medieval. The surrounding area has long consisted of industries and along the river there have been cotton mills and paper mills. Gustav Vasa once employed weavers here in Nyköping, and in the 20th century furniture was manufactured for the Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) and cars at Saab-Ana.

In the 2000s, old industrial buildings next to the river have been converted into housing and the area has also been developed with newly built residential buildings. Along the river you will see the Å-promenade, a walking trail that runs through the entire city center of Nyköping and follows the bends and turns of Nyköpingsån.
