Beschreibung

The Tynnelsö Prästholmen nature reserve consists of three sub-areas of deciduous and broadleaf forest. The forest is relatively untouched and dominated by oak. Along the shore, where it is damp and wet, most of the growth is of alder. The forest is just over 100 years old, but individual trees are much older than that.

There are no plans for direct management of the forest, but nature is allowed to take its course without human influence. Trees that fall or die are allowed to remain. The reserve's deciduous forests are particularly valuable for birds, fungi, mosses and invertebrates. For example, the lesser spotted woodpecker has several territories in the northern part of Tynnelsö.
