Description
The area is located north of Karlsby community next to the road to Godegård. The area includes a large wooded hill that rises about 30 m above the surrounding flat landscape. Lustigkulle nature reserve is overgrown with up to 300-year-old pines. In the shiny bark of the old pines there are plenty of insect holes from beetles, which after hatching and developing inside the wood, have eaten out of the coarse bark. The woodpeckers' eager search for the insects leaves traces in standing and lying tree trunks.
The nature reserve is managed by Länsstyrelsen Östergötland
